Ceramics Project

For this ceramic sculpture, I aimed to create a bold, character-driven bust with personality and attitude. I started by sculpting exaggerated facial features and textured hair, focusing on expression and movement in the form. The glaze choices—rich reds mixed with cool minty green tones—gave the piece a gritty, weathered look that adds depth and character. I wanted the surface to feel both raw and playful. To push the personality further, I sculpted angular sunglasses and added a bright blue mesh snapback, giving it a modern, humorous twist. These accessories transform the bust into a stylized figure that feels confident, almost like a caricature of someone you'd see courtside at a game. The back of the head is especially textured, with sharp, rough shapes that contrast with the smoother front. Overall, this project was about mixing form, texture, and attitude to bring a ceramic figure to life in a fun and expressive way.
